This
weekend's focus was on the Third Round of the FA Cup and many former Canaries
were successful in hitting the back of the net. Some were expected (Hayes,
Bellamy), others less so (Kenton, Heckingbottom). Paul Hayes scored Barnsley's equaliser as they held Walsall to a 1-1 home draw. Craig Bellamy scored twice for Blackburn as they defeated QPR 3-0. Two other former Canaries struck twice. Paul Peschisolido hit both of Derby's goals as they knocked out Burnley 2-1. Paul Heckingbottom's brace wasn't enough for Sheffield Wednesday as they lost 4-2 at home to Charlton. Bobby Zamora broke his former team's hearts when he scored the winner for West Ham at Carrow Road against an injury-ravged City team who gave debuts to youngsters Andrew Cave-Brown and Michael Spillane. Paul McVeigh scored Norwich's goal in a 2-1 defeat. Darren Kenton got his first goal for Southampton and the winner of the match as they defeated MK Dons 4-3. Keith Briggs scored Stockport's second but they fell 3-2 at home to Brentford. Credit also has to be given to Andy Marshall who pulled ff some great saves to help Millwall draw 1-1 with Everton. Neil Moore was in the Nuneaton side that held Middlesboro to a 1-1 draw whilst Gareth Jelleyman's Mansfield were unlucky to lose 1-0 at Newcastle. On Sunday 8th January, Elvis Hammond scored Leicester's first as they came back from 2-0 down to defeat Spurs 3-2. |
