After
a number of quiet weeks, a number of former Canaries were on the scoresheet
this weekend In the Premiership, Craig Bellamy hit "two cracking goals" (News of the World) to earn Blackburn a point at Portsmouth in a 2-2 draw. He was also named in the News of the World's Premiership Team of the Day. Steve Bruce's Birmingham, featuring Chris Sutton, earned a much-needed point at Wigan Former City midfielder Darel Russell remembered the East Anglian rivalry as he scored Stoke's fourth in their 4-1 win at Ipswich. He was named in the News of the World's Championshio Team of the Day. Danny Haynes scored Ipswich's contribution.Gary Doherty and Jason Shackell scored as Norwich lost 2-0 to Preston - yes, that's right - two own goals by City's centre-halves. In League One, there were no goals by former Canaries but in League Two, Danny Crow scored twice as Peterborough won 3-1 at Bury. Danny was named in the News of the World's League Two Team of the Day. Drewe Broughton scored the only goal of the game as Rushden beat Bristol Rovers. Keith Briggs scored Stockport's second s they drew 3-3 at Cheltenham. In the Conference, Leroy Griffiths scored Aldershot's goal as they lost 3-1 to Rob Newman's Cambridge. In Scotland, John Sutton scored St Mirren's second as they won 2-0 at Ross County in the Bells League First Division. In the same division, Brian Wake scored Hamilton's opener as the won 2-0 at home to Clyde but was sent-off inthe 52nd minute for violent conduct. |
