Norwich City signed midfielder Daniel Adshead from Rochdale on 18th June 2019 for a fee of around £300,000.
He began his career in Rochdale's academy but began training with the first team aged 14. He attracted scouts from Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Barcelona. He made his Under-18s debut in 2016 aged 15. His first team debut came in September 2017 with an appearance in the EFL Trophy. By the time of his transfer to Norwich, he had played 25 games for Rochdale
He was called up to the England Under-18s in November 2018 and scored on his debut against the Netherlands. He was called up to England's Under-19s for the first time in September 2019. He scored on his England Under-19 debut on 5th September 2019 in a game that saw England defeat Greece 3-1.
Adshead was on the bench for Norwich City's final game of the 2019/20 Premier League season which was a 5-0 defeat at Manchester City. He played 20 times for the Canaries under-23s in 2019/20, scoring once.
On 7th August 2020 it was reported he was training with Dutch second tier side Telstar ahead of a potential loan move for the 2020/21 season. Teammate Sebastien Soto was also training with them. City midfielder Charlie Gilmour spent 2019/20 on loan with Telstar.The pair's loan to Telstar was confirmed on 26th August 2020. He made his Telstar debut on the opening day of the Dutch 2020/21 season playing the opening 79 minutes of a 2-2 home draw with Volendam. Adshead made a total of 28 league appearances for Telstar.
After playing with the first team during the Summer 2021 pre-season friendlies, he was loaned to League One Gillingham on 19th August 2021 for the 2021/22 season.He made his Gillingham debut in the 2-1 home win over Morecambe on 21st August 2021. He made 19 appearances for Gillingham before being injured against Portsmouth in November 2021. The loan was cut short in February 2022 to enable him to receive treatment at his parent club.
Adshead surprisingly moved to Cheltenham on 21st June 2022 for an undisclosed fee.
On 31st January 2023 he returned to Rochdale on loan from Cheltenham
On 16th December 2023 he was loaned out again, this time joining National League side AFC Fylde until the end of January 2024. On 30th January 2024 this was extended until the end of the season.
He was released by Cheltenham at the end of the 2023/24 season.
