A successful attacker for the Manchester City youth team, Dave
was never given an opportunity to play for their first team. A
transfer to Carrow Road in August 1978 gave him the opportunity
to make his league debut although it came six months later against
Derby County on 2nd February 1979. Dave made 85 appearances for
Norwich scoring eleven goals but his career was cut short with
injuries and he took an insurance pay out in 1984 at the age of
25 having had six knee operations before his 24th birthday. In
total, he has had 13 operations on his knee.
Attempts to resurrect his career in Holland with MVV Maastricht
and Volendam failed. According to Glorious Canaries , he was running a bar called
Confusion in San Antonio, Ibiza. Whenever he was back in Norwich,
he would sometimes turn out for Sunday morning side Norwich Busmen.
Chatting to Dave at Norwich City's centenary dinner, he informed
me that he was now working as an mortgage advisor in Kent. He
returned to Norfolk in June 2004 to set up a company specialising
in after-dinner speakers
In an article with the
Pink Un on April 15th 2006, Dave was
revealled to be part of the corporate hospitality team working at
Carrow Road.
