Joe was captain of the successful 1996/97 youth team that won
the South East Counties League Championship. However his first
team opportunities at Norwich were limited and he did not break
into the first team for the Canaries. He joined hometown club
Wisbech (Dr Martens Midland Division) on loan in the early part
of 1998 and was eventually released by the Canaries in May 1998.
He joined Wisbech permanently in the summer of 1998 and has been
involved in their summer soccer school.
Joe was released by Wisbech as he was unable to sustain a place
in the first team under new manager Tony Godden. The June 1999
edition of Team Talk reported that Joe had joined Spalding
United of the Uhlsport United Counties League.
In December 1999, Joe and Kori Davis moved
to Soham Town Rangers. In June 2000, Joe returned to Wisbech for
the 2000/01 season but their diabolic season and poor financial
situation saw Joe submit a transfer request in March 2001 with
United Counties leaguers Holbeach United his eventual destination.
He departed from Holbeach during the summer of 2003.
Joe spent the 2003/4 season with Emneth Seniors of the Peterborough
League, playing in their 5-0 Norfolk Senior Cup defeat against
Diss Town. Due to a persistent knee injury. Joe gave up playing
on a regular basis but has assisted Wisbech Town Reserves manager
Stuart Webb, playing only when absolutely necessary!
In June 2008, Joe was appointed manager of Wisbech Town's reserve
team
In June 2010, Joe joined New Zealand side Richmond Athletic FC
but has since returned to England
