Steve Head was recruited by Barry Simmonds
in late 2014 to become Senior Scouting Manager.
Head was an associate schoolboy at Reading in the 1970s and played
for the reserve and youth teams as well as two first team appearances
in minor cup competitions. He left to accompnay colleague and
friend Stuart Henderson to coach at Southampton in 1992, ending
up as their youth team coach. After ten years, he joined Fulham
where he initially worked in their academy before moving onto
senior recruitment and opposition scouting. This was where he
knew Simmonds.
He moved to Reading to become Head of Scouting in October 2012
Head left Norwich in 2015 and worked for Wolves as Senior International Scout.
In June 2016, he joined Charlton as Chief Scout
He left Charlton in March 2017.
