34 year old Spanish coach Narcis Pelach joined Norwich on 31st May as part of David Wagner's first team coaching team. He departed Huddersfield Town in late May after working as an assistant to Danny Schofield, ex-City midfielder Mark Fotheringham and Neil Warnock after serving initially as Carlos Corberan's right hand man.
He played for Spanish sides Girona (his hometown team), UD Cassa, AEC Manileu, Palamos CF and UE Figeures before retiring at 25 to take up coaching. Spells as a head coach at UE Figueres and Peralada followed before he returned to Girona as an assistant coach. He departed his post in 2020. A move to England followed when he enjoyed brief spells at Manchester City and Leeds United before following Corberan to Huddersfield.
He said “I’m looking forward to working with the players and coaches at the club. For me, it’s a pleasure and great opportunity to work with the head coach, David, I have big respect for him. I think he is a top coach. My role will be analysing the opponents, find out what they are doing in attack and defence and then try to help him with the gameplan to face them, to prepare the team well. I can’t wait to start. For me, it’s a big, big opportunity to be a part of this amazing club. I’m looking forward to starting the season, and helping the team to compete and to win.”
On 18th September 2024 he was appointed as head coach of Stoke City following Steven Schumacher's dismissal, after the Canaries gave him permission to speak with Stoke. Pelach had expressed a desire to become a head coach. Sporting Director Jon Walters said: “Across the extensive dialogue I’ve had across football, including at the highest levels of the game, Narcís is one of the most respected and sought-after coaches around. He is exceptionally driven and meticulous and will drive those same standards from everyone around him at the Club. Having been a Head Coach in Spain from the age of 25, it was always something Narcís was going to get back to, and he has been patient about selecting the right opportunity. We are delighted that – after talking to John (Coates) and myself – Narcís was excited by the opportunity to represent a club with a talented young squad, a passionate fanbase and ambitious plans for the future. There is no doubt in our minds that Narcís will enjoy a successful career as a Head Coach and are excited to give him the opportunity to make that a reality at Stoke City.”
Pelach was joined at Stoke by coaches Dean Whitehead and Paul Clements and performance analyst Harrison Glew.
