Rastrick said: “I've had an amazing 13 years at the club and feel privileged for the responsibility and support I have been given throughout my tenure – I am immensely proud of what we have achieved. The club has given me the opportunity to operate at the highest levels of youth football across Europe and the world and to build strong relationships with our domestic stakeholders at UEFA, FIFA, the ECA and various partners across the globe. I have been very fortunate to have worked with some incredible staff, people and young players throughout my journey and sit proudly and watch them thrive and flourish, be it here or elsewhere, as elite players, coaches or members of staff. “What is also very rewarding has been watching the development of our staff and players and a sense of pride at the journeys they have been on as people, not just footballers. At this stage in my career, I feel it is the right time for me to move on and I will always look back at my time at Tottenham Hotspur with great pride and affection.”
In December 2023 Rastrick joined the Professional Game Academy Audit Company (PGAAC) as a Leadership and Management Auditor. PGAAC was set up in 2018 to provide independent quality assurance of club Academies. Auditors carry out four-day site visits to clubs and the areas they assess are: leadership and management, coaching, performance support, education, player care, safeguarding, medical and emotional wellbeing. Rastrick has also worked for DNA Sports Consultancy and with Double Pass Master Class
At the end of June 2024 it was speculated that he was returning to Norwich as Head of Football Development replacing Steve Weaver. Norwich have gone through a thorough process since Weaver’s departure from the club earlier this summer, ending a seven-year stint in charge of their academy under previous sporting director Stuart Webber. They advertised publicly and attracted a range of candidates but Rastrick has emerged from the process, led by Ben Knapper, as the frontrunner and the person best placed to led the strategy on developing young talent with a renewed focus on getting academy players into Johannes Hoff Thorup’s first team. His appointment at Norwich as Head of Football Development was confirmed on 9th July 2024. "I’m delighted to be re-joining the club during this exciting period. I am grateful to Ben and Neil for giving me the opportunity and the responsibility, along with Joe [Shulberg], to continue the player development strand of the club’s football strategy," said Rastrick. "We have strong foundations and a proud tradition for developing young talent and I am looking forward to working with the academy staff and helping to continue this work. Player development is a long-term project and, with the support of everyone at the training ground and Carrow Road, I am confident that we can create an environment for our young players to thrive."
