On 30th August 2024 Norwich completed the loan signing of midfielder Anis Ben Slimane from Sheffield United for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
Born in Copenhagen, Slimane had a youth career that saw him move between various clubs in Denmark including BK Vestia, KB, FA 2000, Herfolge, B.93, Brondby, KB (again) and Lyngby before moving to AB at Under-14 level. He made his professional breakthrough at AB where he worked with Johannes Hoff Thorup. He had a trial with German side Freiburg in January 2018. His debut came in April 2018 against IF Lyseng. He played 18 games for AB scoring twice.
He moved to Brøndby in 2020 and would go on to make 121 appearances for the club, Slimane made 29 appearances, scoring three times, as Brøndby won the 2020/21 Danish Superliga title.
At the end of the 2023 season, he moved to Sheffield United for whom he made 15 appearances in the Premier League in 2023/24. His last and 19th appearance for the Blades was against Norwich City on 24th August 2024. He scored once for Sheffield United.
Slimane represented Denmark at Under-19 level before linking up with Tunisia's Under-20s. He made a goalscoring debut at senior level in October 2020, netting the last goal in a 3-0 friendly win against Sudan. He has since gone on to make 34 appearances, featuring in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the Africa Cup of Nations in 2022 and 2024.
He made his Norwich debut on 31st August 2024 coming on as a half-time substitute in the 1-0 away win against Coventry. This means that 54 different nationalities have been represented in the Norwich first team. He scored his first goal for Norwich in the 6-1 thrashing of Plymouth at Carrow Road on 26th November 2024.
