Former Belgian midfielder Stephan Van Der Heyden joined Norwich City on 18th November 2025 as assistant to new manager Philippe Clement.
Stephan began his playing career in 1987 at Belgian side Beveren before moving to Club Brugge in 1991 where he played over 130 league games, winning the Belgian title in 1991/92 and 1995/96 as well as the Belgian Cup twice. During the time he won four caps for Belgium.
He moved to Dutch side Roda JC in 1996 before moving on to France with Lille in 1997. After one season in France, he returned to Roda in 1998. He joined Germinal Beerschot in 1999. His Wikipedia page also records him playing for South Melbourne in Australia and Belgian lower division side Royal Cappellan.
After retiring from professional football in 2003, he returned to the game as a coach in 2010 with Sporting Lokeren. He joined Club Brugge as a scout before becoming assistant coach in 2013. In 2017 he joined Macedonian club Vardar Skopje as Assistant Manager. The following year he took up the same role with the Jordan national team working with Vital Borkelmans.
In October 2021 he joined Indian side Kerala Blasters as assistant coach. On 23rd October 2023 he joined Rangers as assistant to Clement, a role that lasted until February 2025.
