Welcome
to this new feature where we focus on the weekend's activities of former
Norwich City players on the pitch. Goals, sendings-off, clean sheets etc
- all will be covered here. Man of the weekend has to be Manchester City's Danny Mills for his 25yard screamer that gave his side the lead on 71minutes in their clash with Everton on Sunday 2nd October. City eventually won 2-0. Mills' strike following his cut-in down the right hand side must be a contender for goal of the season. Elsewhere in the Premiership, Damien Francis and Jimmy Bullard both played in Wigan's 2-1 win over Lancashire rivals Bolton who fielded Jussi Jaaskelainen in goal. Craig Bellamy and David Bentley both played in Blackburn's 2-0 defeat of West Brom but the controversial Welshman was forced off with aknee injury after 14minutes and was replaced bu Kuqi who scored both Blackburn goals.. Peter Crouch completed all 90minutes in Liverpool's 4-1 defeat at home to Chelsea on Sunday. Scott Parker played in Newcastle's 0-0 draw with Portsmouth. From the highlights, Rio Ferdinand had a poor game in Man United's 3-2 win at Fulham. Bobby Zamora came on as substitute for Teddy Sherringham in West Ham's 1-1 draw at Sunderland. In the Champiponship, Paul McVeigh, Darren Huckerby and Ian Henderson all scored for Norwich as they won 3-1 at Brighton. The only ex-Canary to score on Saturday was Darel Russell but unfortunately for the Stoke midfielder it was in his own net as they lost 2-1 at Plymouth. Ipswich manager Joe Royle saw his side come from one nil down to win 2-1 at home to Crewe. Leicester's Dion Dublin was named in the News of the World Championship team of the week as was Huckerby In League One, the only goalscorer was Darren Way who scored Yeovil's first in their 4-3 win at Scunthorpe whilst In League Two, the only goalscorer with a Carrow Road connection was former Youth team triallist Magnus Okuonghae who scored Rushden and Diamonds' goal in their 2-1 defeat at Rochdale. Ali Gibb (Bristol Rovers) was named in the News of the World's League Two team of the week. In the Conference, Rob Newman's Cambridge United drew 2-2 at Southport. North of the border, Chris Sutton scored in Celtic's 5-0 win at Livingston who fielded Paul Dalglish. |
