Whilst Norwich's forwards could not hit the back of the net against QPR, for whom Danny Shittu was outstanding, elsewhere former Canaries were scoring with gusto.

In the Premiership, substitute Craig Bellamy scored Blackburn's second against Birmingham putting Steve Bruce's job at St Andrew's further on the line. Although not on the score sheet, Jimmy Bullard and Damien Francis have to be recognised for their role in Wigan's 2-0 win at Aston Villa which saw the Lancashire side rise to fourth place in the Premiership table. Other former Canaries to appear in the Premiership included Man City's Danny Mills who was unlucky to lose at Highbury, Davd Bentley who assisted Blackburn to their aforementioned win whilst Peter Crouch's appearance as substitute could not help a dire Liverpool at Fulham. Jussi Jaaskelainen kept a clean sheet fo Bolton against West Brom although only due to a Baggies' penalty needing to be retaken and subsequently missed. Rio Ferdinand and Bobby Zamora had unimpressive games for Man Utd and West Ham respectively.

In the Championship, Kevin Cooper scored Cardiff's third in their 6-1 thrashing of Mark Rivers' Crewe. David Healy played for Leeds as substitute on Friday night against Leigh Bromby's Sheffield United. Ade Akinbiyi couldn't score against Palace as Burnley lost 2-0. Marc Edworthy and Paul Peschisolido played in Derby's 2-1 defeat at Hull. Malky Mackay came on as a late substitute in Watford's 1-0 win at Joe Royle's Ipswich. Andy Marshall conceded two as Millwall lost 2-0 at home to Southampton. Darel Russell failed to make an impression at Stoke lost 1-0 at home to Ivar Ingimarsson's Reading.

In League One, Gary Megson's Nottingham Forest crashed 3-0 at Yeovil. Nicky Southall was in the Forest line-up. Che Wilson played in table-toppers Southend's 1-1 draw with Barnsley. The Shrimpers sent Mitchell Cole on from the bench but Spencer Prior didn't get to come on. The Tykes fielded Paul Hayes. Steve Hislop and Paul Crichton were both on the bench for Gillingham's 1-0 defeat at Bradford, Hislop coming on after 78minutes. Adrian Forbes was also a substitute, this time for Swansea at Rotherham.

In League Two, Danny Crow scored twice in Peterborough's 3-1 win over Rochdale whilst Tes Bramble also got a brace for Stockport against Northampton. Keith Briggs also scored for the Hatters in their 4-2 win. Other former Norwich players to make appearances in League Two were Ali Gibb (Bristol Rovers), Colin Woodthorpe (Bury), Clint Easton (Wycombe), Gareth Jelleyman (Mansfield), Damien Batt and Dean Sinclair (both Barnet), Rob Ullathorne (Notts County) and Mark Tyler (Peterborough).

In the FA Cup Fourht Qualifying Round, Mark Peters' 42nd minute goal for Cabridge wasn't enough to see them dumped out of the cup by Weymouth (2-1). Alex Meechan scored Forest Green's second as they lost 3-2 to Dagenham & Redbridge.

Overseas, David Beckham was sent off for two yellow cards in Real Madrid's 2-1 defeat to Valencia.
