After a protracted chase for his signature, Pelle Mattsson finally signed for Norwich City on 29th August 2025, following the transfer of Marcelino Nunez to Ipswich and Silkeborg's exit from the UEFA Conference League. The 24-year-old Danish midfielder signed a three-year contract at Carrow Road, with a club option to extend, after the clubs agreed a deal worth an initial £2.7million. He'll wear the number seven shirt vacated by Borja Sainz.
Silkeborg are also insulated by a further £300,000 of performances related add-ons and bonuses.
Norwich's scouting department have tracked Mattsson since Johannes Hoff Thorup's spell as head coach, adding his physicality to a midfield already bolstered by the permanent arrivals of Mirko Topic and Jacob Wright earlier in the transfer window.
Born in Marstal, a town in southern Denmark, Mattsson began his footballing journey at Marstal IF and ØBG Fodbold, before joining Silkeborg at the age of 13. After regularly featuring for the club's Under-19s and reserve sides, Mattsson made his senior debut in April 2019 against Hvidovre IF in the second tier of Danish football. He was part of the Silkeborg side that earned promotion into the Danish Superliga during the 2019/20 season, winning the title ahead of Viborg FF. He went on to play 149 times for Silkeborg including winning the Danish Cup in 2023/24.
